Care for your Body, Heart, and Soul: Holiday Self-Care

Give yourself and others some space and grace. We can all get through this holiday season together.

We’re entering the holiday season. If those times weren’t stressful enough, add in the continued restrictions and uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and you’ve got yourself an extra stressful holiday.

Last week, we talked about the importance of treating yourself, but we thought it was even more important to talk about self-care during these particularly trying times. Give yourself and others some space and grace. We can all get through this holiday season together.

Surround Yourself with Holiday Cheer

While the holidays can be a stressful time, they are also a time of year that brings many of us great cheer. There is a certain nostalgia and warmth that comes with sitting by the fireplace surrounded by decorations in a room lit only by the lights on your tree.

This year has been hard enough on us already. Go ahead and put the holiday decorations up now and bring yourself a little bit of early cheer. You would be surprised how such a simple change can immediately lighten your mood and help you feel better.

Do Something Nice for Yourself

As women, we wear a lot of hats and fill a lot of roles. In fulfilling these roles, it can be hard to find time for yourself, and it can be even harder to do something for yourself without feeling guilty. You need your time, too! You will be a better person for it, for yourself and for those in your life.

If you like to read, make time to crack open a good book. Schedule a massage or a pedicure. Go for a run or a bike ride. Whatever it is that makes you happy, do it. If there is something you’ve really wanted or know you could benefit from, buy it! The holiday season is the perfect time to buy yourself that thing you’ve been wanting. You can even wrap it and put it under the tree to make it extra special.

Do Something Nice for Others

Sometimes the best form of self-care is to actually do something for someone else. It has a way of bringing worth and purpose to our lives when we’re feeling a little down on our luck. There are many ways to go about this, both big and small, and they all make you feel better. It could be as easy as running errands or doing chores for an elderly neighbor or volunteering at a local shelter or soup kitchen.

Mana was actually our way of giving back to do something for others. We saw women entrepreneurs struggling and felt compelled to take action. The best part about this project is that every single one of the box recipients is able to do the same thing. Every box purchase gives back to women entrepreneurs in disenfranchised communities to empower them. Subscribers ensure that this project can grow to support more women and businesses around the world.

Are you ready to empower these women and give the gift of Mana? Learn more about the project and sign up on our Kickstarter here.
